A cosmetic repair is where the appliance has an issue that does not effect the operation of the appliance.

Doing a Cosmetic Repair on an Appliance

Sometimes, the cosmetic issue is not one that can be repaired. An example would be a crack in the liner of a refrigerator or freezer. The liner inside a refrigerator or freezer cannot be replaced. While this could be unpleasant visually, it will not effect the operation of the refrigerator in any way.

An example of something that could be replaced would be a permanently stained door bin. A new door bin could be purchased for the door. Another example would be a door handle. If a door handle were dented or scratched, a replacement handle could be purchased or touch-up paint could be used for the scratch.
