Hands-Free AutoFill is a feature that enables you to walk away while the dispenser on your Refrigerator automatically fills any container with filtered water. Just place a container on the dispenser tray, press the AUTOFILL pad and multi-task away. The dispenser pull-out tray feature easily accommodates large containers like pitchers, stockpots and sport jugs (available on specific models).
Sensors are used to detect the container and rising water level while automatically dispensing fresh, filtered water until the container is up to 90% full.
Using Hands-Free AutoFill
Center the container on the Recess Dispenser Tray as far back as possible without activating the paddle and remove your hand from the container.
Press the AUTOFILL pad.
Stopping or Canceling Hands-Free AutoFill
Press any keypad to cancel, including the AUTOFILL pad.
Important Facts About Hands-Free AutoFill
For optimum results, use a uniform container between 4-8” tall and 2-6” wide. Some models may have a shorter recess; therefore, the maximum container height may be slightly reduced.
Container shape: Fill level and functionality may vary on containers taller than 8” or wider than 6”.
Container fill levels may vary. If an error message is given or the fill level is lower than desired, try a different container.
Handles, straws and garnishes on the rim of the container my cause overfilling or a variation in fill volumes.
Splashing may occur depending on the location of the container, water flow rate, container shape and ice cubes.
Keep sensors clean with a clean, damp cloth. Do not spray liquid or cleaners directly on the sensors.
AutoFill works best with a household water supply pressure of 60 to 100 PSI.
Ice in the container may affect the fill volume. If issues are experienced, use less ice.
Some models may display the amount of water in ounces while dispensing. The only refrigerator models that have the AutoFill feature and display water in ounces are the "4-Door" models. For example, the PVD28BYNFS will display water in ounces when using AutoFill.
View the following video to see how Hands-Free AutoFill works. Note that it shows a model that displays the ounces. However, most models do not have this option when using AutoFill.
