Range - Moisture Build-Up on Cooktop Surface or Around the Door

Cooking creates moisture, especially when boiling liquids or cooking foods with a high water content. It is normal to see moisture form on a cooktop, inside the oven, or even around the oven door. Below are some examples of what causes water to form on surfaces.

Moisture Build-Up On Cooktops

The oven vent is not visible on many of our newer Ranges, but it is tucked away underneath the backsplash. Calrod or electric coil model Ranges vent through the right rear burner. It is normal for steam or moisture to come from the oven vent and collect on the cooktop. This is especially true when baking something that contains a lot of moisture, such as chicken or turkey. You may also see more condensation in colder months, when the cooktop is colder than normal.

Moisture Around Oven Doors

It is normal for moisture to form between the glass panels on an oven door when cooking foods with a lot of moisture. There are vents between the panes of glass, and the moisture should go away within 24 hours.
