Range - Styrofoam
The Installation Instructions for a range state to remove packing materials as the first step in the installation process. You remove all packing parts from the oven, racks, heating elements and drawer. Also, remove protective film and labels on the outer door, cooktop and control panel. Sometimes you may notice Styrofoam in the range and wonder if this is packing material.
Noticing Styrofoam In a Range
Styrofoam is often used as insulation, for stability, or as a barrier of some kind within a range. The Styrofoam within a range should not be removed. This is a part of the design composition of the appliance.
The most common locations to see the Styrofoam are as follows:
- Around the vent area. This is not packing material and should not be removed.
- Rear lower frame of the range. This is normal.
