Appliances - Required PSI Water Pressure

It is important to have the right water pressure (PSI*) when connecting an appliance to a water line. Provided below are the recommended PSI ranges by the type of appliance.

 

Providing the Correct Water Pressure (PSI) for an Appliance That Is Connected to a Water Line

  • Refrigerators - The water pressure must be between 20 and 120 PSI on models without a water filter and between 40 and 120 PSI on models with a water filter.

  • Dishwashers - 20 to 120 PSI

  • Washers - 20 to 150 PSI for top load washers and 10 to 120 PSI for front load washers

  • Water Softeners - 20 to 125 PSI

  • Reverse Osmosis Filtration - 40 to 125 PSI

  • Whole Home Filtration - Up to 100 PSI

  • Undercounter Filtration - 40 to 120 PSI

*PSI - pounds per square inch. Normal household PSI is approximately 40 to 45 PSI.
