Red Glow Visible Inside Dryer

Occasionally, a red glow may be seen inside the dryer drum. This is normal.

The glow is from the heating element and is most noticeable if the cycle has been interrupted to remove or add an article of clothing. During the drying cycle, the element heats and glows. As the cycle nears the end, the element goes off. By the end of the cycle there should be no visible glow.

If a glow is noticed after the dryer has completed its cycle, unplug the dryer and schedule a service appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service.
