Dryer - Extra Care Option
Some dryers have an Extra Care option as a feature of the appliance. This Extra Care option is typically available by pressing a button or turning a knob to the option on the control panel.
Using the Extra Care Option on a Dryer
The Extra Care option is a convenient feature when the clothing is not going to be removed immediately at the end of the drying cycle. If the optional Extra Care cycle is ON, the clothes will continue to tumble, with no heat, for approximately 15 minutes. This is called the COOL DOWN period. Some models may feature the Extra Care option automatically programmed into the timer of specific cycles. In these cases, the cycle does not have to be turned on.
- Some models may have an audible signal (buzzer). One minute before the PERMANENT PRESS or POLYESTER KNIT cycle is over the signal will sound as a reminder that the COOL DOWN period is beginning. On the dryer models manufactured before 1995, the buzzer will sound every five minutes during the COOL DOWN period. On the newer models, the signal will sound every 70 seconds.
- The operation of the Extra Care cycle may vary dependent upon the dryer model. For model specific information see the Owner's Manual for the specific model you own.
- Note: The buzzer cannot be tested by setting the timer to the end of the cycle. The dryer must run for at least two minutes to electrically energize the buzzer function.
