Tri-Ring Element on Electric Ranges
The Tri-Ring element is 3 cooking areas in one element. The 12"/9"/6" and the “9”/7”/5” elements are designed to offer extraordinary cooktop versatility.
This multi-purpose cooking area accommodates various sized pots and pans. You can select the heating element size to meet your cooking needs and maximize performance.
Some models feature a 12"/9"/6" element with a 3600W Power Boil.Power Boil uses a combination of higher wattage and a higher heating cycling to boil water faster than burners without the feature.
12"/9"/6" Wattage ratings:
- 12" = 3000 watts; 9"= 1950 watts; 6"= 1050 watts
- 12" = 3600 watts; 9" = 2400 watts; 6" = 1400 watts
- 9” = 3000 watts; 7” = 1750 watts; 5” = 750 watts
Tri-Ring burners do have higher watt densities for the inner element so it is not uncommon for the center ring to be hotter (appear red) than the outer rings on a High setting. Cookware with good thermal conductivity can improve performance to minimize the difference between inner and outer rings.Tri-Ring (Power Boil) Element - You may notice that the inner (middle) ring is not as bright as the other two rings. The inner (middle) ring has similar power as the other two rings but the power is spread out over a larger area. There were a number of considerations made to come to this design including, customer use surveys(common cooking behaviors), reliability, efficiency and cooking performance. This is the correct design and operation of the burner.
