Microwave - Surge Protection

We are sometimes asked if it is advisable to use a surge protection device with a microwave oven. This is not necessary.

Surge Protection With a Microwave Oven

All microwaves have a varistor that protects the control system from powerline surges. There is no need to add an additional surge protector to the line unless you just prefer to do so. If you live in an area where heavy thunderstorms and lightning are common, this may prompt you to decide to use a surge protector as an extra protection.
