Air Conditioners SEER Definition

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. This ratio was developed several years ago by the Air Source Unitary Section of ARI. It was designed to establish a rating scale that would measure unit performance over the cooling season. The term is widely used in central air conditioning but has no definition with room air conditioners or Zoneline PTAC units.
