Upright & Chest Freezer - Capacity
There are many factors that contribute to the volume of food that your freezer will hold including the physical size and shape of each item. In general, a freezer will hold 30 to 35 pounds per cubic foot.
The maximum amount of food that your freezer can freeze at one time is 3 pounds per cubic foot. After allowing 24 hours for that to freeze, you can then add another 3 pounds per cubic foot.
For example, in a 10 cubic foot freezer, you can put in 30 pounds of room temperature food at a time without risking spoilage.
