Dishwasher Cleaning Electronic Air Cleaners/Filters

Washing electronic air cleaners and/or furnace filters in an automatic dishwasher is not recommended. Dishwashers and automatic dishwasher detergents are designed to remove and carry away food soil.

While the concentration of dust and dirt that accumulates on electronic air cleaners may be removed during the dish washing cycle, a heavy residue could be left. This heavy residue could not only stain the tub, it could also clog the pump. Microwave, vent hoods, and downdraft metal filters can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
