Range & Wall Oven - Hi and Lo Broil Feature

The Broil Hi-Lo pad on your range or wall oven gives you the capability of reducing the oven temperature when using the Broil function. It is featured on most models that have electronic controls for the oven.

  • Hi Broil or Broil (on models without a Hi - Lo feature): Hi Broil or Broil functions at 550 degrees Fahrenheit. It gives a quicker broiling to sear in natural food juices. It is recommended for use with thinner cuts of meat and/or foods you prefer less done on the interior.

  • Lo Broil: Lo Broil functions at 450 degrees Fahrenheit. It gives a slower broiling to ensure doneness without drying out the food. It is recommended for use with thicker cuts of meat and/or foods you prefer cooked all the way through.

Note: On gas models, the gas flame height is the same for Hi and Lo Broil. The flame will cycle off more often when set to Lo Broil.

Please refer to the Owner's Manual for model specific information. Most manuals provide a chart giving information on which Broil selection should be used for different types of food.
