Range & Wall Oven - Locking the Oven Door for Self Clean

When setting a Self-Clean cycle on a Range or Wall Oven, the oven door must be locked. Some models have a mechanical latch to lock the oven door and some models have an automatic lock that locks the oven door. Provided below is information on how to lock the door.
 

Locking the Oven Door for Self-Cleaning

Latching a Mechanical Latch to Lock the Door

  • Make sure the oven is empty.
  • Slide the door latch handle from the left to the right until it reaches the LOCK position. This must be done before you can set the Self-Clean cycle.
  • When the Self-Clean cycle is complete and the oven is cool, you slide the door latch handle from right to left to unlock the oven door.

Locking an Automatic Lock to Lock the Door

  • Make sure the oven is empty.
  • Press the CLEAN or SELF CLEAN pad. Or, turn the selector knob to CLEAN on the oven control for older models.
  • After a few seconds the words LOCK DOOR appear on the control panel and/or the LOCK light will come on.
  • The oven will turn off automatically when the Self-Clean cycle is complete. The door will stay locked until the oven has cooled down. Once cool, the automatic lock will unlock. On older models, you press the CLEAR/OFF pad or turn the selector knob to OFF when the Self-Clean cycle is complete. Then, the oven door will automatically unlock.
