Refrigerator - Temperature Monitor Indicator
At one time, select models of Side-by-Side and French-door style refrigerators had a temperature monitor indicator feature on the dispenser controls. This feature is no longer offered. However, it is possible you may still have an older model which has this feature.
Understanding the Temperature Monitor Indicator on a Refrigerator
Models that have an Electronic Monitor and Diagnostic System have indicator lights that will tell you when the fresh food or freezer temperatures are above normal.
This is a red light that will appear on the control console if the freezer temperature has been too high for 1 hour or if the fresh food temperature has been too high for 2 hours.
This light will glow on initial installation because the refrigerator has not had time to fully cool down. After a few hours, the light will go out. Any other time the light comes on, door openings should be kept to a minimum. When inside temperatures return to normal, the light will go out.
Note: If the Temperature Monitor light is on, this could be an indication of a problem with the refrigerator.
