It is very frustrating to place food in your microwave only to discover that the microwave will not start when you press the Express Cook or Start buttons.

Diagnosing a Microwave Oven That Will Not Start

If the control panel lights up and you hear the beeping sound when you press the buttons, but the microwave oven does not turn on when you touch start, check to be certain that the door is securely closed. If a dish touches the door when the door seems closed, it actually may not be firmly closed. Unless the door is closed to engage the safety interlocks, the microwave energy cannot come into the oven.

If the oven still does not work, unplug it for 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the microwave, then try again.
