Microwave How To Proof Bread Dough Made From Scratch
Bread made from scratch requires the dough to rise two times. The first time is usually 1-2 hours, and the second time is about 30 minutes to an hour. Proofing dough accomplishes the first rising of the dough.
To proof a dough:
- Microwave 3 cups of water in 1 quart measure at High (10) for 2 to 3 minutes until steaming hot.
- Place the bowl of dough in the oven next to the water. Cover the bowl lightly with a towel. Microwave at Warm (1) for 20 to 24 minutes.
- Test for rising by making an indentation with your finger; the dough should not spring back and the surface should be dry.
