Microwave Reheating Turkey

Reheating a whole turkey or roast should not be attempted in the microwave. It will heat unevenly and some sections will overcook.

The following guidelines for reheating turkey pieces should be followed:

  1. Slice the meat as evenly as possible
  2. Arrange it in a single even layer on a microwave-safe platter. Try not to overlay pieces.
  3. Cover it with a plastic wrap and heat it at 70% (medium-high) power level:
    • 10 minutes for 10 pounds of meat
    • 12 minutes for 12 pounds of meat

The amounts stated above are maximum amounts for one platter. If you have more that, you need to put it on another platter and microwave it separately. Covering the meat with gravy does not add to the reheat time.
