Microwave Reheating Casseroles

Guidelines for reheating casserole-type dishes:
  • Store foods in containers appropriate for both freezing and reheating.
  • Shallow containers reheat faster and more evenly. A lower power level should be used when reheating a very deep dish and stirring is recommended.
  • Stirring or rearranging is recommended for all reheating, and shielding of corners may be necessary for dense foods like lasagna. Shield the corners with small pieces of foil, making sure that all the edges are smoothed down.
  • It is recommended to cover the food with a lid, paper towel or wax paper to prevent spattering.
