Microwave Frozen Food Cooking Before Defrosting is Completed
If frozen food is starting to cook in places before the defrost cycle is complete, the following are some general suggestions for defrosting in the microwave:
- If the power setting is too high, set on MEDIUM LOW (30% power) or DEFROST. Follow the instructions in the Owner's Manual defrosting information.
- Refer to the Owner's Manual and cookbook for instructions. Microwave energy distribution and the speed of defrosting require that some foods be stirred, rotated, rearranged or turned during defrosting to obtain even thawing.
- Make sure that the defrost time is not too long. Refer to the cookbook and the Owner's Manual for correct times.
- Allow stand time and do not defrost foods completely. The food should still contain ice crystals. Intermittent stand time of 5-10 minutes or more will allow heat to penetrate to the center of the food.
