Microwave Benefit of the Beverage Pad

The Beverage pad is usually sensor operated, and is designed to heat all kinds of beverages such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.

This feature uses the auto cook sensor to sense the steam from the beverage or water whether it is a room-temperature beverage, tap water or even refrigerated beverage as it is heating and heats it to a "hot" temperature. This "hot" temperature is similar to a coffee temperature just brewed from a coffeemaker and is a satisfactory "hot" temperature for the dissolving of instant coffee, hot chocolate, use of a tea bag or the use of the new coffee singles, etc. To operate it, depress the BEVERAGE pad and START.

The following are some specifics about sensor cooking.

  • This sensor beverage pad will only be found on models with auto cook feature.
  • This feature is different from the "timed" beverage pad found.
  • For the models with Instant On control feature, there is no need to depress the START pad.
  • The AHAM standard for brewed coffee temperature is 170-205 degrees Fahrenheit.

Note:

  • For non-sensor models with the option to select serving size (4oz., 8oz., 12oz. or 16oz.), you only have 30 seconds after the feature is started to change the serving size. After 30 seconds, the selection is frozen.
  • For sensor-controlled models, there is no need to select a serving size. The microwave will detect the serving size and adjust the heating time accordingly. To use the Beverage feature, simply press the Beverage pad one time.
