Microwave - Child Lockout Feature

Most Over-the-Range and Countertop Microwave Ovens offer a Child Lockout Feature. The control panel features the words Lock Controls, typically under the Clear/Off or Pause/Off pad. You may lock the control panel to prevent the Microwave from being accidentally started or used by children.

Locking the Control Panel

Press and hold the Clear/Off or Pause/Off pad for about 3 seconds. The display will show "lock" and will then return to the time of day. A small "L" will typically be displayed to remind you that the control panel is locked. The display will show "lock" if anyone tries to use the Microwave. On some models, you press and hold the number "5" and "7" pads simultaneously for three seconds to lock the controls. This is applicable to older models.

• The locked control panel will be maintained after power disconnection in some models, but not all.

Unlocking the Control Panel

Press and hold the Clear/Off or Pause/Off pad for about three seconds. This will unlock a locked out control panel. On some models you press and hold the number "5" and "7" pads simultaneously for three seconds to unlock the controls.
