Microwave Design Standards and Radiation
The United States Government has set very strict standards. Our microwave ovens comply with all the requirements of the Performance Standards for Microwave and Radio Frequency Emitting Products as administered by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Regulation 21 CFR part 1030.
Microwave radiation emission measurements are conducted on the assembly line prior to shipment to ensure the emissions meet the US FDA’s limits for microwave emissions.
A special seal called a "choke" is designed into the inside of the door. The seal reflects the microwaves back inside the oven. The only way to determine if an oven is leaking microwave energy is to have it tested with a properly designed instrument by a qualified servicer. It is not necessary that a microwave oven be examined annually for radiation leakage.
If it necessary to check for leakage, contact service. For service, please schedule an appointment with Bodewell.
