Microwave - Popcorn Pad

The Popcorn pad provides a one-touch method of cooking your favorite microwave popcorn without having to guess the correct time needed. There are two different types of Popcorn pads. The microwave will have either a "humidity sensor" pad or a "timed" pad.

Using the Popcorn Pad on a Microwave

Models with the humidity sensor use a steam sensor to determine when the popcorn is nearly done. As the bag gets full with popped corn, it releases more steam. The microwave then calculates the remaining cooking time and counts down the time.

• On older microwave models, if the popcorn is slightly overdone or undercooked, the cooking time can be adjusted up or down by twenty seconds. Touch the Popcorn pad and then the "9" to add twenty seconds or touch the Popcorn pad and then the "1" to subtract twenty seconds.

For models that use the humidity sensor for the Popcorn feature, if you want to cook a package that is less than 1.75 ounces or more than 3.5 ounces, then use Cook Time and follow the instructions on the package.

Models with the timed popcorn function are pre-programmed at the factory for a specific time to cook the average package of microwave popcorn. On older models, the pre-program includes an option for regular and for lite. The regular function will cook slightly longer than lite.

For both types, the bag should be at least three ounces for proper operation of the popcorn pad. Do not use the popcorn pad if you are popping the smaller bag (1.75-ounce). Use the Time Cook function instead, and follow the instructions on the bag for selecting the correct time.

Please check the Owner's Manual to determine specific features offered on your model. Newer models may offer a little more flexibility for the size of the bag of microwave popcorn able to be used with the Popcorn pad.
