Microwave - Manual Defrost

Microwave ovens have a Defrost feature that typically allows you to defrost by weight or time. This feature has been offered on microwave ovens for many years. On older models the feature was called Manual Defrost. On newer models the feature is called Time Defrost.

Using the Manual Defrost Feature on a Microwave

Manual or Time Defrost on microwaves automatically sets the power level to 3. The defrosting time is figured by the food type and its weight. The Owner's Manual for the specific model you own will have a Time Defrost Guide with suggested amounts of time to defrost certain items.

For defrosting, follow these steps:

1. Touch the Manual Defrost pad once or the Defrost Weight/Time pad twice. The microwave automatically goes to power level 3.
2. Enter the defrost time.
3. Touch the Start/Pause pad.
