Dishwasher - Control Lockout Feature

On many of our dishwashers, there is a Control Lock feature to prevent a person from interrupting a cycle already in progress or starting a cycle by accident. The only dishwasher cycle not affected by the Control Lock/Child Lock feature is the DELAY START option.

The feature has been available on our dishwashers for many, many years. The way you turn the Control Lock feature On and Off varies by model.

Older Dishwasher Models

To Activate the Control Lock Feature

  • Press the LOCK pad twice within three seconds.
  • This may be done before a wash cycle to prevent the dishwasher from starting or during a wash cycle to prevent it from being interrupted.

To De-Activate the Control Lock Feature

  • Press the LOCK pad twice within three seconds.

Newer Dishwasher Models

Most newer models have the Lock Controls feature and it is usually turned On and Off in one of the following ways.

  • To LOCK/UNLOCK the dishwasher control, depending on the model, press and hold the Dry Boost pad, or the Steam-Sani/Presoak-Sani/Sanitize pads at the same time, for 3 seconds. The Lock Controls light will turn on to indicate the control is locked and will turn off to indicate the control is unlocked.
  • To LOCK/UNLOCK the dishwasher control, depending on the model, press and hold the Cycle pad, or the Dry/Dry Boost and Steam pads simultaneously for 3 seconds. The Lock Controls light will turn on to indicate the control is locked and will turn off to indicate the control is unlocked.
For model specific information about the Control Lock/Child Lock feature, check the Owner's Manual for the dishwasher you own.
