Removing Plastic from Dishwasher Element
When you have a dishwasher will a heating element on the bottom of the tub, at some point you may have a plastic object or food fall on the heating element.
To remove the residue from the element on a dishwasher with mechanical (knob) models:
- Advance the dishwasher to the DRY cycle for approximately four (4) minutes.
- Then advance the timer to the OFF position.
- Carefully scrape plastic off with a wooden spoon or other non-metallic object.
To remove the residue from the element on a dishwasher with electronics:
- To get to the dry cycle, let the unit run through the shortest wash cycle.
- When it begins the dry cycle, cancel the cycle.
- Carefully scrape plastic off with a wooden spoon or other non-metallic object.
Use extreme caution (heat-insulating gloves) when near the heating elements. Heating elements get very hot.
