Dishwasher - Checking the Fuse or Circuit Breaker

If your Dishwasher appears to have no power to it, you should definitely consider checking the power supply to the appliance. There are other considerations such as a wall switch or electrical outlet that controls power to a Dishwasher, on models installed in this manner. However, many are hard wired directly to the electrical supply in the home.

Checking the Fuse or Circuit Breaker That Provides Power to a Dishwasher

If your Dishwasher has no power, please check the fuse panel or circuit breaker box in your home to see if the fuse for the Dishwasher has blown (a bad fuse can turn black or show signs of a burned out filament) or the circuit breaker has tripped.

Make sure you use the correct size when replacing the fuse or circuit breaker. If the fuse continues to blow or the circuit breaker continues to trip, you may want to contact an electrician. The fuse or circuit breaker may not have the correct amperage rating for use with your Dishwasher (15 or 20 amps).

Repair Service Needed

Should you determine that the Dishwasher is properly connected and the electrical supply to the Dishwasher is active, service may be needed to determine why the appliance is dead. For service, we recommend scheduling a repair appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service.
