Dishwasher - Removing Soap Residue in Detergent Cup

After the wash cycle is complete, the detergent in the detergent cup should be fully dissolved and washed away. Sometimes a dish or pan may have partially blocked the detergent cup and some soap remains undissolved.

Removing Soap Residue In the Detergent Cup In a Dishwasher

If soap residue remains in the cup, the following tips should enable you to resolve the concern.

  • Wipe out the detergent cup with a damp cloth.

  • If detergent is caked on, carefully pry it out with a blunt object such as a wooden spoon.

  • If needed, you can add a small amount of very hot tap water into the cup and allow it to remain for a while to soften the residue. Of course, this requires that you leave the door open while it is soaking.
