Disposer - Reset Button Location

Garbage Disposers typically have a manual reset overload protector. The reset button is a red button located on the bottom or lower back side of the Garbage Disposer. If the Garbage Disposer gets jammed and the motor overloads, the reset button will pop out and shut the Disposer off.

Resetting a Garbage Disposer

  1. Turn the wall switch to OFF.
  2. Wait two to five minutes for the motor overload control to cool down.
  3. Depress the red reset button located on the bottom or lower back side of the Disposer.
  4. If the Disposer still will not start, check the main fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the Disposer and try starting the Disposer again.
