Range - Functions That Work During Self-Clean

Generally, a Range is not used while the oven is going through a Self-Clean cycle. However, there may be times when you need to use the Range for surface cooking or an oven for models that offer two ovens. We are providing information regarding the possibility of using these features below.

Oven Operation (Double Ovens)

  • Some of our Double Oven Ranges and old Hi-Lo Ranges (Gas, Electric and Microwave models) have circuitry that allows the use of one oven while Self-Cleaning the other oven.
  • In some models, baking, broiling, roasting, convection, microwaving and all other related functions can be performed in one oven while cleaning in the other. However, both ovens cannot be Self-Cleaned at the same time. Check the Owner's Manual for the model you own for model specific information.

Surface Burner Use

  • On Gas Ranges, you cannot use the cooktop burners while Self-Cleaning.
  • On Electric Ranges:
    • Burners on models manufactured 2015 and after will operate during Self-Clean. However, we strongly recommend waiting until after the cycle is complete to cook on the cooktop.
    • On Electric Ranges manufactured before 2015, some models allow for burner use during Self-Clean. However, we strongly recommend waiting until after the cycle is complete to cook on the cooktop.

Check the Owner's Manual for surface burner operation information on your model.
