Installing Ranges on Carpet or Vinyl Flooring

Ranges, like many other household appliances, are heavy and can settle into soft floor coverings such as cushioned vinyl or carpeting.

  • We recommend that all free-standing ranges and slide-in ranges be put on a sheet of plywood to allow ease in moving for service and cleaning.
  • We recommend against the use of a gas range on carpeting. Again, a sheet of plywood is recommended to ease in moving, cleaning, and to prevent the discoloration of carpet or vinyl flooring. (The plywood can lay on top of the flooring)

Other safeguards against discoloration of vinyl flooring are:

  • Do not cover the floor of the oven with aluminum foil.
  • Adjust leveling legs up.
