Drying or Dehydrating Food in the Oven

Dehydrating or drying fruits, vegetables, or meat in the oven is not recommended unless the oven has a Dehydration feature. Dehydrating is a process of using low heat for a longer period of time to remove the moisture content in the foods. Most GE ovens are not designed for this purpose.In the past, some Profile and Monogram wall ovens had a Dehydrate feature. If it had this feature, it will be in the owner's manual for that model. Download a copy of the Owner's Manual.If the oven does not have this feature, it is best to use specific appliances designed for dehydrating. We do not manufacture a dehydrator. We would recommend checking with department stores, catalog showrooms, etc. for this type of appliance made by another manufacturer.
