Top Load Washer Styrofoam Shipping Material
Top-load washers are shipped with one of three types of ways to keep the tub stable during transport and installation:
- Shipping Rod (prior to 2013)
- Styrofoam at the top of the tub opening (2013 and newer)
- Cardboard cone under the washer (2015 and newer)
To determine which type your model uses and how to remove the shipping material, consult the Installation Instructions for that model. Download a copy of the Installation Instructions
On models with styrofoam shipping material:
- There are two pieces to remove. After the machine is in the home, remove the installation information and hardware and leave the styrofoam shipping material inside the tub opening. This will hold the tub in place during the rest of the installation.
- Once the washer has been moved close to its final position, remove the styrofoam shipping material from underneath the washer. Attach the hoses, move the washer into place and level it according to the Installation Instructions. The final step is to open the lid and remove the top shipping material from the tub opening. We recommend keeping the bottom styrofoam shipping base after installing the washer for future moves.
