Dual Fuel Range - 120 Volt - How It Works

In the Fall of 2005 GE Appliances introduced a 120 volt dual fuel range. This model was offered for a limited time and is no longer manufactured.

Understanding the 120 Volt Dual Fuel Range

Here's how the 120 volt dual fuel range works.

  • The only time you really need 40 amps is during the preheat and when the oven is in the self-cleaning mode. During preheat the gas burner comes on until 350 degrees Fahrenheit is reached. At 350 degrees Fahrenheit, the electric bake and broil elements will come on and the gas burner turns off. It will take approximately 6 to 7 minutes to reach 350 Fahrenheit.
  • For a prolonged reheat, for example, when the oven door is left open, the gas burner will come on until 350 degrees Fahrenheit is reached. At that time the gas burner turns off and the electric bake and broil elements come on.
  • For self-cleaning, only the gas burner comes on.
  • The 120 volt dual fuel range delivers the same quality cooking and self-cleaning results as the 240 volt model.
  • The 120 volt dual fuel range has a Sabbath Mode that applies to the main large upper oven and NOT to the warming drawer.
