Range & Cooktop - Replacing A Control Knob

There are some ranges and cooktops which feature electronic controls for the surface burners. However, the majority of models have control knobs for using the surface burners. While the oven controls are often electronic, some models do have an oven control knob.

Replacing the Control Knob on a Range or Cooktop

To replace the control knob, do the following:

• Hold it in an upright position with the OFF marking facing upward.
• Place the open part on the back of the knob over the control stem that is sticking out of the control panel.
• Press the knob onto the stem.

If the opening in the back of the knob does not press down over the stem, do the following:

• Turn the knob in slight increments clockwise as you continue to try and press it onto the stem.
• When you reach the point where the two match, the knob will easily slide down onto the stem.
