Top Freezer Refrigerator Drain Tube

Refrigerators with automatic defrost have a drain tube that carries water from the defrost cycle to a fixed drain pan under the refrigerator.

If water is dripping around the temperature controls, down the rear wall inside the fresh food section, accumulating under the vegetable pans, or leaking onto the floor, the drain tube may be clogged and would need to be cleaned.

On top freezer refrigerators, water under the vegetable pans is the most common evidence of a clogged defrost drain tube. These models require some disassembly to access the defrost drain tube, so we recommend that you contact service.
