Washer - Average Water Usage
Modern Washers use much less water than Washers from past decades. This is due to Federal regulations that define energy and water saving standards for new Washers and Dryers.
Determining the Average Water Usage for a Washer
To calculate the average water used for a wash cycle, use this calculation: Water Factor x Capacity = Average Water Usage.
You can get the Water Factor (WF) by model number at the Energy Star website or the DOE Certification website:

- Energy Star and non-Energy Star models: http://www.regulations.doe.gov/certification-data/CCMS-79223002113.html
