Cooking Clams and Mussels in a Microwave Oven

Cook clams and mussels right in their shells for an easy-to-prepare appetizer. Arrange them on a pie plate, hinged-side toward the outside of the plate. Cover loosely with wax paper. For three, 5-ounce clams or mussels, microwave at high (100%) power for approximately 3 to 5 minutes or until the shells open.
