Washer - Locating the Water Shut-Off Valves

You may need to shut off the water to your washer from time to time. You may be doing a repair or going on vacation. Some folks turn off the water supply to their washer whenever the appliance is not being used.

Locating the Water Shut-Off Valves For a Washer

If you need to shut off the water supply to your washer, you should first locate the incoming hot and cold water hoses behind the washer. One end of each hose is connected to the washer, while the other end is connected to a faucet that looks similar to an outdoors water faucet. Turn the hot and the cold shut-off valves in a clockwise direction until they stop. This turns off the water to the washer.

If the washer is leaking and you can't find the shut-off valves or they do not work, turn off the water to the entire house. Locate the cold water pipe going into the hot water heater. Somewhere on that pipe should be the main water shut-off valve. Turn the valve in a clockwise direction until it stops.
