Upright & Chest Freezer - Power Outage Tips

If there is a power outage, we recommend the following to keep the food in an upright or chest freezer preserved as long as possible:

• Keep the door closed.

• Place bags of regular ice in the freezer to help keep foods frozen.

• If it is anticipated that power will be out for a length of time, you can try to keep food frozen or at least cold in a cooler using either bags of regular ice or with dry ice*.

 

*WARNING: HANDLING OF DRY ICE CAN CAUSE FREEZING BURNS ON HANDS. Gloves or other protection is recommended. Dry ice is most commonly found by searching a printed or on-line directory using the words "Carbon Dioxide".
