GE Profile™ GEOSPRING™ Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater - Anode Rod

The anode rod is an essential component of a water heater. Without the anode rod, the tank can become vulnerable to corrosion and rust. This could lead to leaks and premature failure of the water heater due to the lack of a sacrificial metal to corrode in its place.

The GE Profile™ GEOSPRING™ magnesium anode rod is specially designed and tested with our water heater. Only the anode for that model should be used. If you are on a private or municipal well, or if your water has a sulfur or rotten egg smell, an aluminum anode rod may be available.

Sensing Anode Rod

The GE Profile GEOSPRING is equipped with a sensing anode rod that will alert you when it needs to be replaced. You will also get a push notification on your smart device if the unit is connected to SmartHQ™. This alert will occur when 75% of the anode rod has been consumed and should be replaced. The control panel display will illuminate the anode replacement indicator, and an alarm will sound. Press the “Hold to Reset” once to silence the alarm. To reset the feature once the anode has been replaced, press and hold the “Hold to Reset” button.
