Top Load Washer - Filter-Flo Pan

Decades ago, a Filter-Flo System, which was exclusive to GE Appliances, was used to remove lint. The Filter-Flo pan sits on top of the agitator and features very fine holes to entrap particles as tiny as sand. This system was available on 1993 and earlier models.

How the Filter-Flo Pan Worked

At one time, GE Appliances produced select large and extra-large washers with the Filter-Flo pan system that trapped lint, hair, and fine particles like sand so that they would not redeposit onto the clothes. These models have not been manufactured in many years.

The filter pan moved with the agitator. This movement caused lint collected in the filter pan to form balls which reduced the clogging of the filter and made it easier to clean. The filter pan also held powdered detergent until it was properly dissolved before it was added to the wash.

A Filter-Flo pan cannot be added to a model that did not originally come with one.
