Water Softener Water and Electrical Connection Information
Water supply
- The water softener requires a minimum water flow of 3 gpm (gallons per minute) at the inlet.
- Water Pressure: The maximum allowable inlet water pressure is 125 psi. If your daytime water pressure is over 80 psi, the nighttime pressure may exceed the maximum. Use a pressure reducing valve if necessary.
- If your home has a back-flow preventer, an expansion tank must be installed according to local codes and laws.
- Do not use a softener to treat water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without proper disinfection of the water from a system before or after the softener.
Electrical
- The water softener has a 10 ft power cord that is included and should be used.
- Plug the supplied cord into a 120V, 60 htz household outlet that is properly grounded and protected by a circuit breaker or time-delay fuse.
- It is ok to use an extension cord with GE water Softeners. It is recommended that you use a #20AWG appliance replacement cord, which is normally sold at hardware stores or home improvement centers, adding 1/4" right angle crimp terminals for connection to the softener and spade terminals for connection to the transformer.
