Water Softener - Flashing Control Display / Control Set Up

The control display on your water softener should not be flashing. Rather, it should be solidly illuminated and show the correct time of day. If this is not the case, you need to set up the control.

Setting Up the Control Panel on a Water Softener

Take a look at the instructions below to set up the control panel on most water softener models.

1. Press the Select pad until "present time" and "flashing time" are displayed.
2. Press the + or - pads to select the correct time. Remember to note A.M. vs. P.M.
3. Press the Select pad again until "hardness" and "flashing hardness" numbers are in the display.
4. Press the + or - pads to select the correct hardness.
5. Press the Select pad again until the recharge time and flashing 2:00 A.M. are in the display.
6. Press the Select pad again. The correct time of day should be in the display. The softener is now in operation mode.
7. Initiate the regeneration cycle. In order to do so, locate the touch-hold pad on the control. Press the pad and hold until "recharge now" flashes in the display. The softener will start regenerating. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the recharging process. Allow a day or so for soft water to flush through the water heater.

Note: 2:00 A.M. is pre-set at the factory as the best regeneration time for most people. If you desire to change that time, press the + or - pads to select the correct time.
