Water Softener - Softened Water Tastes Salty

Soft water will taste differently than your previous unsoftened water supply. However, it should not have a distinct salty taste.

Diagnosing Salty Tasting Softened Water

Consider the following suggestion in an attempt to remedy salty tasting water from your water softener.

• It is possible that you have a kink in the drain hose that is not allowing the softener to regenerate properly. Locate the drain hose (usually green) at the bottom rear of the control housing. Check the entire length for any kinks and crimps. Press the touch/hold pad until recharge now flashes in the display in order to initiate a regeneration cycle.
• If it continues to have a distinct salty taste after a complete regeneration cycle, we recommend service.
