The cooking wattages on older Microwaves was lower than on Microwaves produced today. Essentially, this means an older Microwave will take a little bit longer to heat foods compared to a newer model. Prepacked foods may provide suggested cooking times for heating in a Microwave. These times are often based upon the cooking wattage.
