Oven Auto Clean
Before using Auto Clean (self-clean feature on older models):
OVEN FRAME AND DOOR LINER
- Door liner outside the woven gasket and the oven frame is sealed off from the oven during cleaning, and therefore is not cleaned automatically. However, during cleaning these areas hot enough to "bake on" any soil that is remaining so it becomes harder to remove.
- If these areas are soiled, the soil should be removed before automatic cleaning, using a soap filled steel wool pad if necessary. Rinse thoroughly to remove soap before cleaning. A vinegar and water mixture works well as a rinse - use 1/2 cup vinegar to 2 quarts water.
DOOR GASKET
- Do Not Clean. On the oven door is a woven fiber-glass gasket which is essential for a good oven seal. Care should be taken to not rub, damage, or move the gasket.
- It is not necessary to use any cleaning materials on the gasket and to do so might damage it. Although some owner's manuals mention the use of hydrogen peroxide, we do not recommend unless it is in that model's manual.
DOOR GLASS
- Glass on inside of oven - The glass should clean properly when put through the self clean cycle. If needed, soap, water and a plastic scrubbing pad (or soap filled scouring pad -non metallic) may be used.
- Glass on outside of oven - Use soap and water to thoroughly clean the top, sides, and front of oven door.
NOTE: if any spots remain on the interior of oven (walls, floor, ceiling) after the use of the self clean cycle, soap filled scouring pad (SOS) may be used to remove spots. Rinse thoroughly. Hair-line cracks may also appear in the porcelain. This is normal.
