What a Disposer Will and Will Not Grind

WHAT THE DISPOSER GRINDSThe disposer will grind almost all items of food waste. Naturally some items require less time to grind than others. Some items such as animal fat, skin and hard bones take longer to grind than vegetable parings. Mixing different types of waste will improve grinding efficiency.DO NOT PUT THE FOLLOWING INTO YOUR DISPOSER:

• Metal, glass, plastics, and ceramics - These items are not acceptable to the sewer system.
• Leather, cloth, string, rubber - These items can cause nuisance tripping of the motor overload control.
• Seafood shells, artichoke leaves, corn husks - These items can cause nuisance tripping of the motor overload control.
• Lye or drain cleaning chemicals - These items may damage the disposer.
