Refrigerator - Locating Water Supply Shut-Off Valve
The water line connected to the refrigerator should have its own shut-off valve connected to the cold water supply line in the home. The shut-off valve is usually located under the kitchen sink, in the basement, in a crawl space or in the cabinet next to the refrigerator.
-
There will be a small 1/4 inch copper line attached to the cold water supply line using a saddle valve (t-valve). The saddle valve will have a small post sticking out from the side with what looks like a wire running through the center.
To turn off the water to the refrigerator:
-
Before shutting off the water to the fridge, turn off the icemaker. If you don't, the icemaker may keep cycling on and off and cause damage to the valve.
-
Turn the shut-off valve in a clockwise direction until it stops.
